Course Description

Are you curvy, busty, and voluptuous in all the right places? If so, join us for Fabulous and Talented - F.A.T Burlesque! Minnie Mercury will teach you how to shimmy and shake what your momma gave you while teaching you how to dance and move as a larger-bodied performer. 

You will be surrounded by other bodacious beauties while you learn a sexy, fun choreographed burlesque number. F.A.T Burlesque is specifically created for plus-sized dancers to learn, move, and share resources with other plus-size dancers. All levels are welcome, so whether you have been dancing since you could walk or have never done a grapevine a day in your life, you will fit right in!

Progressive students may have the opportunity to perform at the end of semester showcase. Students would be required to furnish their own costumes.

Learning Outcomes

• Learn one (1) choreographed routine.

• Evaluate movement skills in terms of space, time, and force and reproduce accurately through the movement of your body.

• Analyze a dance performance in terms of choreography, performance, and theatrical elements.  

• Demonstrate clarity of intent while applying kinesthetic principles for all dance elements.

What to Bring

• Dance/character shoes or strapped toe shoes with a 2–3-inch heel.

• Other acceptable footwear includes jazz flats, salsa shoes, or barefoot.
